Welcome to Chloe's Trimming and Training

The mental and physical well-being of the horses that I work with is my top priority.  I can't help but see how much potential each horse has. It's my  mission to make sure that every horse gets the opportunity to live up to that potential and have the amazing life they deserve.

About Me

How I started training:

I've been a horse girl my whole life. I grew up riding in a lesson program where I learned basic safety and riding. At age nine, brought my first horse home. My childhood pony, Rio, taught me more than I thought was possible. He was my best friend and made me an in-tune rider with a good seat, and situational awareness.  However it wasn't until I got my current horse, Tony, that I became a trainer. He was young and lacked confidence and a sense of self. I quickly had to become the person that he could lean on. It was a fine line between letting him discover his own personality and also teaching him the things he needs to know in order to thrive in this world. I got into R+, trick training, and liberty because of my other horse, Phoenix. I didn’t know when I got him, but quickly discovered he has Kissing Spine, which comes with physical limitations, one of which is not being able to be ridden on a regular basis. Because of this, I had to come up with new ways to get him exercise and mental stimulation.

How I got into trimming:

In 2022 my trimmer retired so it forced me to search for someone new to trim my horses. I had heard great things about Deanna Stoppler, so I decided to give her a call. When she came, her expansive wealth of knowledge and flawless trim amazed me. Shortly after, Deanna asked me if I would like to learn a bit of trimming so I could rasp my boys hooves in between trims. This is where my love for hoof care began. After about a year of trimming my own horses, reading informational websites, and learning proper hoof photography and receiving feedback from Deanna, I decided this is what I wanted to do with my life and entered into the PHCP training program!

I do a lot of R+,  trick training,  and liberty in my free time. For pictures and videos of this, please see my FaceBook page. If you would like help with trick training your horse or just don’t know how to get started, I’m here to help! As for horses who are struggling with basic ground or riding training, whether I use positive reinforcement or not is purely situational. Every horse is an individual who learns in their own way, has their own personality traits, and has their own set of strengths and areas where they need help. My job is to help the horse learn in a way that is constructive to them, while still allowing them to be an individual with their own personality and respectful opinions. I do not believe that horses are supposed to be robots. I strongly feel that they should be able to have a voice in this life. With that said, it’s my job to educate them on what they need to know in order to thrive in this world and set them up for success in whatever job it is that they need to do.

Pain cannot be trained. If your horse is acting out due to a pain response, I will not work with the horse until he is sound. I do not have my own facility, so I will travel to your horse and provide training at your home/barn. I also offer lessons for horses and riders who may be struggling to see eye to eye or need help in a specific area. My training sessions/lessons are typically about an hour long and cost $35 per session, though there may be a travel fee added if you are outside of my typical travel distance.

I specialize in barefoot trimming and hoof rehabilitation. Though I am not yet certified, I am an intermediate student through PHCP (Progressive Hoof Care Practitioners). Feel free to check out my profile on the PHCP page. Hoofcare provider, Deanna Stoppler, got me started with trimming. I had been trimming my own horses as well as for some friends since 2022 and I started my hoof care business in early 2024. I offer hoof boot fitting for those who would like to ride their horses with hoof protection, as well as for those who need rehabilitation boots for sore horses. I hope to also offer glue on shoes as well as casting within the next year or so. I firmly believe that the more often you get your horse trimmed, the healthier their hooves will be, so I try to keep my trim cycles at a maximum of six to seven weeks. I have a holistic approach to trimming, meaning that I take diet, exercise, living conditions, and environment into account when it comes to hoof health and my trim. I am currently accepting new clients within an hour of Enosburg Falls, VT.
